Section Links Section Announcements Freshman OrientationFreshman orientation is a fun, organized way for new students moving up from the middle school to get acclimated to the high school environment. Students are exposed to the Wheatland High School campus and are introduced to their future teachers and administration. This year’s freshman orientation went off without a hitch as the class of 2015 gathered in the auditorium early to gather perspective from Mrs. Ryff and Mr. Calvert as to what high school life was really like followed by an introduction of the staff. After being grouped with peer counselors, each student had the opportunity to take a tour of the school with the luxury of having a small, personalized group. These small groups allowed for individual questions to be answered and for the group to get to know each other on a first name basis. After the school tour and introductions the freshmen students were treated to a taco lunch courtesy of Mrs. Ryff with help from the faculty. On full stomachs, the freshman were taken outside with their groups to participate in five different team-building, and problem solving activities ranging from a trust fall to a favorite called Giants, Wizards, and Trolls. During these activities the students were given opportunities to think critically and work as a group. The students were asked to process these activities in the group before moving on to the next activity. Following the outdoor activities and the supplemental Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament, the students were once again asked to congregate in the auditorium for a closing assembly led by Matt Calvert and Greg Garton on the Professional Learning Communities Program in the high school before being dismissed to prepare for their big day.
